A SHEPHERD IN TIMES OF TROUBLE.

Memory text( Psalms 23:3)

" He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake "

Have you ever been in a situation where someone or let me talk of a close friend or relative spoke so ill about you or spreaded rumors about you that weren't true? How did you feel? because at this point the main intention for this gossiper is always to ruin our reputation or make one feel unwanted.

Well this brings me to verse 4 of Psalms 23 "yea, though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

Here we can see that the shepherd is the one guiding the sheep in paths of righteousness, but these very paths also seem to wind their way into the valley of the shadow of death.

Could it be possible that even the painful betrayal from our friends or relatives when they spread gossip about us, this dark valley could be used by God to train us in righteousness?

Let me ask you a question, at what times have you grown more spiritually - through the easy times or the harder ones?

Listen, most times it seems easy to have good opinion of God and His purposes when everything is going on well. But when we find ourselves in a situation like this one when our reputation is being ruined because of something someone said , then our view of God often changes . God doesn't change, of course ( Hebrews 13:8, James 1:17), but we do.

Psalms 23 uses the image of a shepherd to describe the way God cares for us even when we are hurting. God never promise that it would be an easy and smooth journey but one thing i know is He said He will be with us, His rod and His staff will comfort us. Some parts of the paths maybe easy to walk along, others maybe difficult. So my dear sister, whatever you maybe facing today, that which was meant to harm you or bring you disgrace never forget you have a shepherd.

" Those who are finally victorious will have seasons of terrible perplexity and trial in their religious life; but they must not cust away their confidence, for this is part of their discipline in the school of Christ and it is essential in order that all dross may be purged away.

As women of God we must endure with fortitude the attacks of the enemy, his grievous taunts, and must overcome the obstacles which Satan will place our way....

If you keep looking up, not down at your difficulties, you will not faint in the way, you will soon see Jesus reaching His hand to help you, and you will only have to give Him your hand in simple confidence, and let Him lead you. As you become trustful, you will become hopeful.... Satan cannot make of none effect the light shining forth from such a character. God bless you.
